Emma Hackett
Occupational Therapist
I am an Occupational Therapist passionate about providing a neurodiversity-affirming service to neurodivergent clients across the lifespan. I enjoy educating clients about the range of ‘occupations’ an OT can support with. These include what you do for fun, leisure, work, learning, and daily skills like showering, dressing and household chores.
I aim to support teen and adult clients' health and well-being by working on any challenges they have in balancing, finding meaning from, or managing what occupies their time. I can support children in the areas of self-care, play and learning. Paediatric OT approaches I involve in my sessions include task-specific practice, cognitive strategies, interoception skill building or assistive technology depending on areas requiring support. I can also work within a person’s everyday home or community environment to support a client’s community-based goals.
I find spending time in nature to be a meaningful occupation in my life - this looks like gardening, camping, or taking my dog on a walk when I'm not at work.
