Griffiths Developmental Assessments
Child Developmental Assessment (Ages 1 month - 5 years, 11 months)
The Griffiths-III developmental assessment provides an overall measure of development for children aged from 1 month to - 5 years, 11 months as well as an individual profile of strengths and difficulties across five developmental domains. These domains assess learning, language and communication, eye and hand coordination, social and emotional development, and gross motor skills.
Why might my child need one?
The Griffiths-III can assist with tracking and monitoring development over time and planning for and measuring interventions. It may also provide valuable information to inform future placements and management of your child. The Griffiths-III is often used as part of the Autism assessment process for children under 6.
The Assessment Process
What is a pre-assessment consultation?
This is a 50-80 minute initial consultation which is required prior to all assessments at The Kidd Clinic. This allows the clinician to gather information about the client’s developmental history, discuss the assessment process, and answer any questions that arise.
This appointment allows our assessors to determine the most appropriate (if any) assessment/s and advise you on which assessment pathway to proceed with according to the client’s presentation and needs.
Rebates and referrals?
You do not require a referral to be assessed at The Kidd Clinic, but if you have a referral please send it to assessments@kiddclinic.com.au when you enquire.
Griffiths-III assessments cannot be claimed with Medicare. For NDIS participants, contact your plan manager or local area coordinator (LAC) to determine if your plan will provide cover. Please note that only self or plan-managed NDIS funding is eligible for use at The Kidd Clinic.
Your assessment may be claimed on private health depending on your coverage. Please consult your health insurance provider regarding item number 100 for individual assessment.
