Problem Solving Sessions
Problem Solving sessions are usually one-off, 75-minute appointments for individuals and families who are experiencing one or two difficulties that they would like assistance with. During this session, the problems are explored and information and advice are provided where possible. These sessions provide a safe and supportive space to formulate possible solutions and strategies as well as provide education and understanding. Recommendations, referrals or types of therapy may be suggested as a result of this session. Common topics raised by parents or carers in these sessions include school disengagement, Autistic burnout, emotional dysregulation, toileting or self-care skills, carer burnout, and supporting a child with a PDA profile. At times, one or both parents attend, sometimes along with another family member or the child’s therapist.
