Ruth Swan

Counselling and Clinical Psychologist

 

Ruth is a Counselling and Clinical Psychologist who has a special interest in working alongside people with unique minds and struggles. Over the past 25 years Ruth has worked in the Not-for-Profit, Private Practice, and University Sectors supporting children, teens, adults, and families across the lifespan with a wide range of issues. Ruth’s interest areas span neurodivergence, disability, eating disorders and Disordered Eating, Parenting and Neurodivergence, Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Executive Functioning issues, Burn Out, Sleep issues, and Managing Transitions.

Ruth’s approach is warm, welcoming, non-judgemental, and compassionate. She likes to really understand what is going on for people, their strengths, and their barriers before developing a collaborative plan and process for supporting people to meet their goals. Ruth values trust, safety, and working together in partnership to progress therapy.

In her free time Ruth enjoys trying things she has no knowledge of and is really not very good at! Her current projects are wheel-throwing pottery, weaving, and whittling. She always has a book series on the go, usually an epic fantasy something, and enjoys podcasts about Ancient Civilisations.
