A collaborative, compassionate and proactive process can change the focus from challenging behaviour to solving a young person’s difficulties, improving behaviour and enhancing their skills. 

Through an interactive and collaborative process with educators, goals meaningful to the staff and school system are developed and addressed.

The Kidd Clinic team is passionate about assisting school staff in understanding and supporting our neurodivergent young people.  We are highly skilled in understanding behaviour from an emotional, cognitive, social, communication, sensory and motor perspective. 

Our psychology team consults may include:

  • School observations

  • Conducting meetings with teachers, aides and leadership to problem-solve difficulties that school staff may be experiencing in engaging particular students educationally and socially

  • Personalised curriculum planning

  • Working with schools to design a neurodiversity-affirming environment for their autistic students

  • Providing professional development seminars and parent education evenings on topics such as:

    • Autism

    • Autism and Anxiety

    • Pathological Demand Avoidance

    • School Anxiety (refusal)

    • Autism in girls

    • Gender Diversity and Autism

    • Cognitive Ability

    • Processing Speed and Working Memory 

    •  ADHD

Our speech pathology team can provide consultation and professional development on the following areas:

  • Language development - how to promote language at kindergarten/school for children with language issues

  • Receptive language - how to support understanding

  • Autism and language - how to promote development

  • Understanding and enhancing social communication within education settings

  • Using language to support young people with a PDA profile
